Speed Limit Moor Road

There have been concerns raised regarding the speed of vehicles and bicycles using Moor Road (Grinton to Leyburn) within Grinton Village.

The road is narrow and steep with blind bends. There are no pavements and pedestrians also use the carriageway.

North Yorkshire Council Highways will consider reducing the speed limit on roads within village boundaries if this is requested by the Parish Council and supported by those who live in the village.

The Parish Council is considering a reduction in the speed limit from 30mph to 20mph on Moor Road from the current 30mph signs at the cattle grid to the junction with the B6270 (Reeth to Richmond Road) and on Swale Hall Lane from the current 30mph signs at Raws Cottage to the junction with Moor Road as indicated by the thick black line on the map.

The B6270 which runs through Grinton village is unaffected by this proposal. The 30mph limit will be unchanged.

If you are a Grinton resident and would like the Parish Council to consider your views on this proposal at the next Council meeting on Monday 7th July please email the Clerk Rosemary Watson [email protected] or call 01748 884297 or speak to any member of the Parish Council.
